Biden Hood: Prince of Thieves

In an effort to make good on his campaign promises to the liberal and progressive left, President-elect Biden has spoken about the efforts his administration will make to help bring relief to Americans with college debt.

According to Forbes, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) wants Biden to forgive up to $50,000 in student loans per borrower. Schumer has called for not only canceling this debt, but also eliminating the tax liability that results from loan forgiveness. He believes Biden has the authority to cancel student loans with an executive order under the Higher Education Act.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y) has also joined the calls to cancel student loans. She has said that Congress is not needed to forgive student loans, and that all that’s required is to "push" Biden to do it.

Can Biden Legally Cancel Student Loans with an Executive Order? If Biden follows this advice, student loan borrowers could wake up on January 21, 2021 with most if not all of their student loans forgiven.

Many people see this as a wonderful first step for President Biden, who has taken drastic steps since his dramatic and unexpected election victory, to posture himself as America's Great Unifier.

With news on the potential college debt relief, many are already labeling the President-elect, Bidenhood (a nod to legendary heroic outlaw originally depicted in English folklore).

"Just like Robinhood, Joe Biden has the ability to bring hope and financial liberty to those who are sitting under the heavy burden of their own personal debt", said Jack Anderson, a college graduate we spoke with. "I have unbelievable amounts of dept. I went to a progressive college and received a degree in humanities. I was there for five years, becasue I spent my first year partying and drinking a lot. Now, I'm working at Starbucks making 10 bucks an hour. How am I supposed to pay off my college loans? It's not fair and I shouldn't be forced to live a life of burden, just becasue I can't get a decent paying job with my worthless degree that cost me nearly 200,000 dollars." 

Joe Biden has an innate ability to morph into whatever people want him to be. He's been in Washington, D.C. for nearly 50 years because he has very feeble convictions that allow him to become the hero and leader that people want him to be. It's very clear that today's culture is nothing like the 70's and 80's. People no longer want to be held accountable for their poor decisions. The vigilante persona of "Biden Hood", gives Joe the ability to keep his base happy and even make appeals to the responsible men and women on the left who will not want to turn down debt relief, just becasue they feel some sort of personal responsibility to pay their debt on their own. And then, when these take government money, it will signal to the rest of the world that this policy is good and right and honorable. It's a great trade off and at the end of the day, Joe Biden gets all the credit and none of the liability that comes with a government handout of this stature.
