Gotham City: When a Signal of Virtue Becomes a Virtue Signal.

Gotham City, New Jersey — On Thursday, the City Council of Gotham City voted unanimously to give the Bat Signal a facelift, by turning it into a duel purpose call for help and virtue signal.

"We're really proud of ourselves", said Jennifer Owens, one of the council members we spoke with. "We've prided ourselves for a long time for being on the right side of history and this once again proves that the great people of Gotham City will not tolerate intolerance."

The updated Bat Signal still has the classic "bat" but now also comes equipped with a swastika that is crossed out with a rainbow colored no signal. This duel purpose signal will be used to call Batman into action, as well as the Social Justice Warriors, in the event of any activities or circumstances where the city feels riots and looting are warranted.

"We've seen, over the past 6 months that there is a need to have a plan in place to coordinate efforts to kill fascism, racism, sexism, and a lot more 'isms' than I can mention off the top of my head", said Commissioner Gordon. "We want people to understand that we will not stand by and watch as our city is destroyed by hate or bigotry. We will rally our army of social-justice warriors and we will fight hatred, head on."

When asked what kind of situations would necessitate the use of the virtue signal and who makes the call, Commissioner Gordon responded, "We have a diversity and tolerance committee who is trained and equipped to handle situations like these. When they feel action is warranted, they will use the new virtue signal accordingly. Some hypothetical examples are: whenever a conservative justice is sworn into the Supreme Court, or whenever President Trump is due to campaign in our city, or whenever a university attempts to have a conservative speaker on campus. These are all valid reasons for us to initiate 'Operation ND-H8' which is the official name we have given this initiative."

As cities, companies, and individuals become more and more aware of intolerance around the country,  it is good to see action being taken. People are choosing to move from the bleachers into the game in order to ensure that people of hit the streets in mass hysteria, in order to show intolerant and bigoted people that they are not welcome.

We reached out to Batman, for his comments on the city's updated signal, but he did not return our calls. Rumors have recently circulated--around the Internet--that he endorsed President Trump, for his strong 'Law & Order' initiatives, but those rumors have not been confirmed.
