IN THE WAKE OF GINA CARANO'S FAILURE, DISNEY TO RECAST A STRONG, INDEPENDENT, WOMAN AS CARA DUNE.2/16/2021 Disney wasted no time in deciding who to cast as Cara Dune in season three of the Mandalorian. Last week Disney Pictures confirmed that Gina Carano was fired from the hit Disney+ series, because of her selfish and racist decision to question the morality of cancel-culture and group think, and would no longer be playing the fan-favorite character, Cara Dune. This caused a lot of panic and uncertainty which echoed throughout the Star Wars Universe. Fans and critics were left wondering what would happen next or how Disney Pictures would deal with the crisis.
"We knew, based on our knee-jerk reaction to disappear Gina Carano, that we'd need to follow up that decision by swiftly replacing her character with a strong, independent woman", said a Disney executive we spoke with. "We needed to find someone who would be just as believable in this role as Gina was and that wasn't going to be an easy task. We also knew that we needed someone who was not only strong and independent, but also willing to submit to the progressive worldview we inflexibly hold to around here. So, in essence, we were looking for a progressively-obedient woman." Disney could no longer assume the risk of casting an empowered and unconstrained woman. "It was too much of a liability for us", said the Disney representative. "Yes, Cara Dune calls her own shots in the series but that doesn't mean we want an actress who is going to do the same thing in real life. We aren't crazy. If women were led to believe they could be empowered and liberated and free from the expectations of men, we would be in a world of hurt. The last thing we needed was another woman who was willing to risk it all for her personal convictions. We learned from our mistake and we were committed to ensure that we never made that same mistake again." That's when someone from Disney made the bold suggestion, which eventually led them to the perfect woman to fill Gina Carano's shoes. "We'd seen her work. She's an exceptional actor", said the Disney representative. "We had all the audition tape we needed, right on CSPAN. Whether it was her passionate plea at Trump's Boarder facility where children were being indiscriminately locked in cages or her enflamed viral video after the January 6th Insurrection (where she was almost killed by the hitmen Senator Ted Cruz hired to kill her) Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was born to fill this role. She is brave. She's an incredible actor. And she's not ashamed to toe the progressive line and push the progressive agendas of Hollywood; plus she's a heck-of-a bartender too, which will come in handy when our executives want someone to make them cocktails." Though it's still too early to tell how fans will react to the recasting of one of their favorite characters, what is increasingly obvious is that Disney has their mark. AOC will be Cara Dune, and although her real-life persona is nothing like the character she will play on the silver screen, Disney will no longer need to worry about Twitter feeds and Instagram posts, as AOC has already proven herself to be a woman who is willing to spread and promote progressive propaganda. |
