OUTRAGE ENSUES AS PEOPLE LEARN THAT HALF OF ALL AMERICANS EARN LESS THAT THE MEDIAN INCOME.4/22/2021 Portland, OR (Wokeville Gazette) — Last night an angry mob of people gathered to protest, after the recent pew survey showed that half of American's make less than the median income. "This system is racist and oppressive", said Jake Simpson. "We are angry and we don't get what we demand, then we will burn this whole system down." One economist, who we spoke to on the condition of anonymity seemed rather confused by the anger. "I'm really not sure what these folks are angry about. In essence, they seem to be angry, based simply on the reality of how median income is defined". Of course, that is an accurate statement. According to Webster's dictionary, The median income is defined as "the income amount that divides a population into two equal groups, half having an income above that amount, and half having an income below that amount". However, it doesn't seem that the truth will stop people from making this a point of contention. Vikas Dwivedi weighed in with his thoughts on Twitter, For many angry American's he does have a point. Why should Americans settle for being below average in anything.
"If we are to truly live up to the American Dream, we must not stop fighting until the majority of Americans are above the median income line", said Trisha Wilson-Anderson another angry protester. "We can do better than this and if the system fails to live up to our expectations, we will destroy it and create a better system that provides equal and equitable opportunities for everyone". While those who seem to understand how economics work shake their heads in disbelief, Those who are angry about this reality will shake their fists in distain at a system they say continues to favor the oppressors, while furthering the divide for those who are being oppressed. "Angry isn't a strong enough word", said Wilson-Anderson. "We are rightfully outraged and this is the beginning of a new revolution. People can either join our ranks, and find themselves on the right side of history, or they can bury their heads in the sands of indifference and find themselves on the wrong side of the angry mob; who will stop at nothing to right the wrongs that have been perpetuated against us for far too long." |
