PELOSI SAYS, 'STOP THINKING OF IT AS PACKING THE COURT. THINK OF IT AS PRESERVING PROGRESSIVISM'.4/15/2021 Washington, D.C. (Wokeville Gazette) — A lot of folks, on both sides of the political isle, have become uneasy over the past several days. News broke last week that President Biden was initiating a commission to look at the possibility of expanding the number of seats on the Supreme Court. Then on Wednesday, Democrats communicated their proposed legislation of expanding the court from 9 seats to 13. This caused many Americans, on the right and the left, to question if democrats are misusing their power to undermine the intentions and foundation of America.
"I want to be clear here", said Mindy Mickelson, #NeverTrump Republican. "I hated Donald Trump with a passion. I supported every single move to undermine his presidency and to ensure he was never reelected. I joined in on the social-media efforts to paint him as a fascist, a tyrant, and a threat to the foundations of our American republic. However, it was all a ruse. A made-up effort of lies and misinformation to ensure we wouldn't have to endure four more years of Donald Trump. I voted for President Biden, because I genuinely thought the people who would be pulling the strings in his presidency were patriots. But now, some of the things I'm seeing from Democrat leaders, have me legitimately scared for America." This sentiment isn't only being shared by Republicans who crossed party lines to vote for Joe Biden. There are many longtime members of the Democrat party who are equally uneasy about this recent push to pack the Supreme Court. Former Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, cautioned against adding seats to the Supreme Court and predicted that the Senate filibuster is “on its way out,” in an interview on CNN on Saturday. "I have no problem with the commission, but I think that the commission is going to come back and disappoint a lot of people," Reid said. "I think they’re going to come back and say, we should just kind of leave it alone." Reid said that it would be "inappropriate" to impose term limits on justices, adding, "I think we’d better be very, very careful in saying that we need to expand the Supreme Court." As Americans became increasingly unsettled about these new efforts, Nancy Pelosi weighed in, asking people to relax. "Listen, I've been at this a long time", said Pelosi. "Americans need to understand that our Democracy is in good hands. Donald Trump is no longer our President and we have a recognizably moderate face in the White House, even though his mind is clearly gone. We know what's best for people. They just need to remember their role. They're plebs, who hired us to do the thinking for them. So, shut up and stop making our jobs difficult." When pressed specifically about the proposal to expand the Supreme Court to 13 seats, Pelosi said: "Listen, people say a lot of things, OK. But just becasue something looks a certain way or legislation is written a certain way it doesn't mean it's black and white. So, what do I say to people who assert that we're packing the court? I tell them to stop thinking of it as packing the court. Think of it as preserving progressivism. What's more important, preserving the Constitution or ensuring that our progressive agenda can never be undermined? That's what Americans really need to be asking themselves." And framed that way, it is clear that the Democrats aren't trying to undermine the Constitution, so much as they are trying to ensure the Progressive agenda is unstoppable. "What we learned, over the last 5 years is that even with eight straight years of pushing progressive agendas, it still doesn't guarantee that a fascist president—like Donald Trump—won't be voted in by a bunch of ignorant, redneck and racist Americans, and undermine what we have built", said Pelosi. "We know the power that the Supreme Court holds, especially in helping push liberal agendas and interpretations of the law. Therefore, we can no longer pretend that the current structure in America's governmental framework is going to protect our initiatives. We need more votes in the Supreme Court and we will stop at nothing to get them!" We reached out to Speaker Pelosi, after she dismissed the efforts by some democrats to bring court packing legislation to the floor. "I pulled the plug on this, because it's too obvious", said Pelosi. "I rejected this grass roots effort to swiftly vote on legislation to expand the Supreme Court and have no intention to bring it to the floor. We will do this the right way. These young progressives are so impatient. They need to understand that we are 'waiting on the commission' to come back to us with their 'recommendation'. Then, when they suggest we expand the court, every Democrat in Washington will be able to hide behind the recommendation as the reason why we moved forward with legislation. It wasn't our idea, we just followed the advice of the experts. See how that works AOC? It's called a hustle sweetheart!" |
