PSAKI: 'BUSINESSES WON'T RAISE PRICES JUST BECUASE WE RAISE THEIR TAXES'.

Washington, D.C. (Wokeville Gazette) — Jen Psaki caught herself in the quandary yesterday, during her press briefing, when she was asked to explain why businesses wouldn't just raise prices to pass the increased tax burdens onto their customers.

"Businesses won't raise prices just becasue we raise their taxes", said Psaki. "They are far too compassionate to simply roll these burdens onto their customers."

When asked a follow-up question about why increased taxes are needed, if corporations are basically benevolent, Psaki found herself in a conundrum. "Why are taxes needed then, Jen", asked Brian Thiemann from the Wokeville Gazette. "If businesses are basically good-natured, then why can't we just trust them to distribute their resources in compassionate and caring ways, without the government getting involved at all?"

After a fairly awkward pause, Psaki replied, "I'll need to circle back to you on that one Brian." She then quickly moved on to the next question.
